Dispatches from France by @BodieandFou

Contributor post by Karine Kong of BODIE and FOU
Hello everyone! I'm now back in London behind my desk but luckily working on exciting stuff.
A couple of ago, I posted two images on my Facebook profile...The first one in white was from our bedroom in our London home and features a beautiful cluster light by Kathleen Hills (+ my beloved silver mini sac by Clare Vivier). The second one with natural and blue hues was from a bedroom in our holidays home in France. My mum covered the headboard with linen fabric and made the curtains and I dyed an old sheet in blue to add a summery feel to the room.

I really like these two images but having them next to each other, it kind of dawned on me that although I have been living in England for the past 16 years and being regularly exposed to designs from around the world and even using designs from Scandinavia, US, England etc around my home, my interior style is still...well, very French!

If you have been living in a country that is not your birth country, do you also find that although living abroad has opened your mind to other things, deep down, you always go back to the style you know from your childhood?

Dispatches from France by @BodieandFou

Hello It's Karine here with my latest "Dispatches from France" post. Our holidays in France are sadly coming to an end. A few days ago we went to La Teste's food market near the Bay of Arcachon. Living in London, there are a few 'typically French things" I miss and going to a sunny food market every weekend to pick up fresh vegetables, oysters and seafood is definitively one of them. Each time, it's a visual feast of colours and inspirations and my head is buzzing with decoration ideas to make our London home a bit more like our holidays home in France.

Dispatches from France: In France...for a little week - Part 1

Contributor post by Karine Kong of BODIE and FOU

Hello Everyone! Can you believe July is already here! I mean how quickly time flies these days! I've just arrived in France (where home is for me) to drop Mila at my parents and to start shooting our first BODIE and FOU mail order catalogue! Creatively speaking, this is an exciting time for me because I get to choose how (hopefully beautiful & inspiring!) our catalogue will look like and I will also do the photo stylism (see my beginnners steps here) but it is also a bit scary because a mail order catalogue costs the earth to produce and I've never done one before so I'm a bit in a "Feel the fear and do it anyway" kind of space but I'm just gonna take a deep breath and try my best!

And to breath slooowwly and caalmy, I'm going to show you various parts of my region starting with a company called Les Cabanes de Bartherotte et Freres. In French, the word 'cabane' means little hut and it is often made of wood...a bit like what Steve built in our garden except ours is up in a tree!

What I like about Les Cabanes de Bartherotte et Freres is that each design is inspired by the fishermen huts one can find around the Bay of Arcachon. They are unique work of design, eco-friendly and simply beautiful...so let's dream a little bit that we will all spend our holidays there next year!

That's it for today, I'll be back this week with more eye-candy from the South West of France...Wishing you a great day!
