Poppytalk Handmade is a place to "brand" your product. We've designed our site as an advertising vehicle for the indie culture. It's a great way to introduce and launch new shops and/or new product lines or keep your shop name and product in the limelight. Please note there is a virtual table fee involved. Click here to find out how our market works, here for testimonials from our participants and here to read our recent press clippings.

Inspiration: A Zest of Lemon

Summer is such a great time to display fruit around and lemons are such a cheery colour to accent a kitchen or outdoor patio.  I'm really loving everything about lemons right now, especially displayed with their leaves. I came across these amazing lemony images from the July/August issue of Marie Claire Idées over the weekend and could not help but share.  Conception by Veronique Villaret, photos by Frederic Vasseur.

New: My August Mood Board + Mood Board Pool

I don't know why I haven't thought of this before, but I guess since we're renovating I kind of gave up on the mood board idea.  In fact in our old place I had an entire wall at one point covered completely in inspiring tear sheets.  But recently I was asked to send (a certain website - to announce hopefully soon) a picture of my mood board and since I didn't have an actual real one, I created this digital virtual one.  And then after creating it, it inspired me to do this every month.  So here it is, my first of many I hope.  My monthly virtual mood board.  This month includes pictures I took here in Stanley Park, some lemons from Marie Claire Idees, the beautiful weekend decorating inspiration (bedroom) from H&H, dishes from Swarm  Home, and mixed media art work from Jesse Hazelip.

I hope you'll join me!  I've created a Mood Board Pool over on flickr, so everyone can upload their mood boards there and where we can all be inspired each month with what is inspiring us. And just like our colour weeks, I'll feature some of them each month.  I hope you'll join, it'll be fun!!!

Hello Sandwich Handmade Stationery Workshop

These little envelopes make my heart go pitter patter and I can only dream to be in Tokyo  this week for Hello Sandwiches' Handmade Stationery Workshop!  They'll be making super cute envelopes (just like these), lined with patterned wax paper and decorated with seals, labels and stamps!  They'll also be making original letter writing sets which can be photocopied for future use and envelope holders with pockets.  Oh Sandwich, can you come here? If you're lucky enough to be there and wish to go, click here for details.  So fun!

Both avid cyclists Jeremy Clement and Kez Sherwood wanted to build trailers using high quality materials with no frou frou parts that could easily break. They sought to source local materials where possible, use environmental finishes and outsource specialized components to others in the community. Jeremy a certified welder and engineer, Kez the designer together create high quality, light weight and smooth to tow aluminum bicycle trailers in Roberts Creek, B.C. Their inspiration was to build bombproof, simple and elegant cargo bike trailers for West Coast use. Trailers they could use to carry groceries, kayaks, firewood or compost bins. Products that would stand up to their rainy climate and use for life. See more of them online:
